Advises the Board of County Commissioners on policies regarding housing affordable to extremely low, very low, low, and moderate income households and approves impact fee waivers for homes affordable to extremely low, very low, and low income households.
One vacancy each exists for residents who, in connection with affordable
housing, are:
1) actively engaged in the residential home building industry;
2) actively engaged in the banking or mortgage banking industry;
3) designated as an advocate for low-income persons;
4) actively engaged as a real estate professional.
All positions are for two-year terms beginning Dec. 1, 2010.
Citizens may apply for a variance if they feel the application of the Land Development Regulations would create a substantial hardship or violate principles of fairness. The applicant has to show evidence that they are going to meet the intent of the Code that they are requesting the variance from. The Board of Adjustment approves or denies a variance request based upon staff’s report and evidence submitted during the hearing, taking into consideration the applicant’s and neighbor’s testimony in favor or against the request.
The County Commission is seeking one (1) representative from Commission District 1 to serve an unexpired term ending Jan. 31, 2013. Members must be electors of Lake County. Appointees are required to file a financial disclosure statement in conformance with State statute.
The BOE hears complaints against licensed and unlicensed contractors. Whenever practical, this Board shall include an architect, a business person, an engineer, at least one contractor who is registered or certified under Section 489.105(3)(a)-(c) FL Statutes, at least one contractor who is registered or certified under Section 489.105(3)(d)-(o), and must include three consumer members who are not and have never been members of a profession regulated under this part, or a member of any closely related profession, Chapter 471, Chapter 481 or Chapter 489, FL Statutes.
One (1) vacancy exists for a consumer member to serve an unexpired term ending Jan. 14, 2013. Members must be residents of Lake County. Appointees are required to file financial disclosure statements in conformance with statute.
Reviews impact fees, evaluates the expenditure of funds collected via impact fees, and makes recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners.
The County Commission is seeking one (1) representative of the Lake County Conservation Council or other organized environmental group to serve a two-year term ending August 6, 2012.
The Bicycle & Pedestrian Advisory Committee (BPAC) is a formal advisory body to the Lake-Sumter Metropolitan Planning Organization (LSMPO). BPAC is comprised of a broad base of professionals and concerned citizens whose mission is to advise the LSMPO Board on bicycle and pedestrian issues. Also, the Committee assists the LSMPO Board in the formulation of goals and objectives for shaping urban and rural environments through the effective planning for bicycle and pedestrian facilities.
The County Commission is seeking one (1) representative each from Commission Districts 2 and 4 to serve two-year terms beginning Jan. 1, 2011.
The LSMPO provides a forum for a coordinated, comprehensive and continual transportation planning process that is critical in providing a safe, effective and cost-effective transportation system. The CAC serves at the pleasure of the LSMPO Board and provides a necessary communication link between the LSMPO Board and the community it is serving; it must reflect a broad cross section of local residents with an interest in the development of an efficient, safe and cost-effective transportation system. Minorities, the elderly, and the handicapped must be adequately represented.

Reviews the expenditures of the revenue generated by the sales surtax to ensure the surtax revenue is being used only for the purposes specified in the Nov. 6, 2001 referendum and Ordinance 2001-123.
The County Commission is seeking two (2) members of the Public at Large to serve four-year terms ending Nov. 19, 2014.
Advises the County Commission on the alternatives available for solid waste disposal and reviews the current solid waste disposal system; reviews and evaluates solid waste disposal options and possibility of regional partnerships for waste disposal; reviews and evaluates the possibility of private sector partnerships for waste disposal.
The Commission is seeking one (1) member with experience in at least one of the following fields: business, business finance, environmental and/or solid waste issues. Members must be electors of Lake County and shall serve until March 1, 2011.
Makes recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners for the effective operation of the uses of the tourist development tax revenue raised by the tax levied and may perform other such duties or functions prescribed by ordinance or resolution.
The Council is seeking one (1) owner/operator of motels, recreational vehicle parks or other tourist accommodations in Lake County to serve a four-year term ending Dec. 1, 2014.
WELLFLORIDA COUNCIL
The Council works for Lake and 15 other counties in north central Florida and is responsible for writing plans and setting policies to guide the development of health services in the community. Lake County holds three seats on the WellFlorida Council, designated as one consumer, one provider, and one purchaser..
There are currently vacancies for:
l) one health care consumer. Consumers are persons who are not providers of health services and include, but are not limited to, elected officials, representatives of consumer organizations, and members of the general public; and
2) one health care purchaser. Purchasers are persons who are responsible for, or who are authorized members of, an organization responsible for purchase of health services for a group of five (5) or more employees, either directly or through acquisition of health insurance coverage
Both of these vacancies are for two-year terms ending Sept. 30, 2012.
