The Lake County Board of County Commissioners meetings may consist of several components, including work sessions, discussion agenda items (departmental business), consent agenda items and public hearings. Lake County residents are encouraged to attend the meetings and to speak at public hearings. The Board normally meets in regular sessions the first, third and fourth Tuesday of each month at 9 a.m. in the Administration Building, located at 315 W. Main St., Tavares. Special meetings and/or work sessions may be called as necessary. While public comments may not be taken at these work sessions, the public is invited to attend. Copies of the agenda are available at the Commission Office, the South Lake Building Annex in the Sunnyside Plaza in Clermont and at the public libraries located in Fruitland Park, Tavares, Mount Dora, Umatilla, Leesburg, Eustis, Groveland, Lady Lake and Clermont as well as Lake-Sumter Community College and the Lake County Welcome Center. The agenda is available on the County Web site as well as branch libraries at Citrus Ridge on Highway 192 and the East Lake Branch in Sorrento.
Work sessions: Detailed, round-table discussions concerning items of critical importance, needed directions to staff, consideration of options.
Discussion Agenda (departmental business): Items requiring policy decisions, directives to staff or briefings for informational purposes.
Consent Agenda: Routine items that require Board approval, but do not call for detailed discussion (i.e., approval of minutes, acceptance of deeds)

Notice requirements for public hearings vary based upon the circumstances of each particular situation.
