A resident of Clermont since 1996, Elaine Renick was elected to the Lake County Board of County Commissioners in 2006. Prior to her election to the commission, she served as a Clermont City Council member for three terms. Comm. Renick is a former teacher and school psychologist.
Commissioner Renick has been an ardent supporter of protecting the natural resources of Lake County. She has received awards from both the Sierra Club and Republicans for Environmental Protection, acknowledging her efforts to protect the environment. She presently serves as the County's representative on the Lake County Water Alliance. She also serves as the County’s liaison to the Public Lands Acquisition Advisory Committee, the East Central Florida Regional Planning Council and the Upper Ocklawaha Basin Working Group and has recently been appointed to the Arts and Cultural Alliance.
