Overview
The Department of Community Services human touch makes life easier for many Lake County residents. As the strengthening arm of county government, the Department provides for the many social, health, safety and human services needs for Lake County citizens.

Commonly referred to as the "people link" between government and community, the Department works with numerous partners to improve the quality of life. The Department of Community Services is committed to the highest level of service possible and are privileged to be able to serve the Lake County community.

Administration & Other Social Services
Provides support to all Community Services divisions along with other community-based services.
Agricultural Education Services
Helps improve the quality of human life, protect and sustain natural resources and environmental systems, and help Lake County food, fiber and agricultural industries stay competitive.
Children's Services Council
Advises the Board of County Commissioners about children's issues in Lake County, assists with strategic planning for children and family services and provides a forum to exchange ideas and promote partnerships among service providers and citizens.
Elder Affairs Coordinating Council
Advocate for seniors, assist in the coordination of scarce resources, serve as an information source on elder and aging topics and inform County leaders about issues that are important to Lake County aging citizens.
Housing and Community Development
Provides an integrated system of services, resources and opportunities to help people improve their lives, the lives of others, neighborhoods and the total community.
Library Services
Plans and coordinates system-wide library development.
Probation and Court Services
Provides supervision to offenders placed on probation for traffic and misdemeanor offenses and ensures their compliance with court-ordered sanctions as well as the Teen Court program.
Public Transportation
Provides safe and cost-effective transportation for the citizens of the County.
Veterans Services
Service to the more than 30,000 veterans and/or their dependents at no cost, with no discrimination.
VolunteerLAKE
Promotes volunteerism and volunteer recognition within Lake County.
