Each year, grant funds are made available on a competitive basis through the Children’s Services Council (CSC) and Human Services.
- CSC grants must target programs that are oriented towards prevention or early intervention programs for children. Programs that serve at-risk children to include:
- safeguarding physical health
- abuse and neglect prevention and intervention
- delinquency prevention
- afterschool and out of school programs
- developmental screening, assessments and access to appropriate interventions
- prevention and/or intervention
- kinship care (grandparents/relatives raising grandchildren)
- subsidized child care
- children with special, physical, developmental and behavioral needs
- nutritional education and the reduction of childhood obesity
- Human Services grant funds are directed to programs that assist individuals/families by providing prevention or intervention services for one of the following emergency needs:
- rental or mortgage
- utilities
- deposits (for both utilities and housing)
- food
- achieving economic self-sufficiency
These grant programs utilize the same basic grant application (RFP) and application schedule. Although specific dates change from year to year, the application process generally starts in December of each year with applications being due in mid-February. Organizations are encouraged to contact Rebecca Foley-Kearney for more information or to be added to the list of potential service providers for Children’s Services and Human Services grants.
