Florida's transportation disadvantaged program was created in 1979 and reenacted in 1989. The 1989 act created the Florida Commission for the Transportation Disadvantaged and enhanced local participation in the planning and delivery of coordinated transportation services through community transportation coordinators (CTC).
On Jan. 1, 2001, the Lake County Board of County Commissioners became the County’s CTC. The Board contracted with LifeStream for the management and provision of transportation disadvantaged service in Lake County, which LifeStream provided under the operation of “Lake County Transit.” On Nov. 7, 2003, the Florida Commission for the Transportation Disadvantaged extended Lake County’s CTC designation until Oct. 30, 2009.
On October 1, 2013, the Lake County Board of County Commissioners entered into an agreement with Ride Right Transit, LLC. to be the County’s paratransit provider. Ride Right provides this service under Lake County Connection.
