Connects potential volunteers with various Lake County branch libraries and literacy programs within the Lake County Library System in order to meet the challenges and needs of the County's large population of library users.
Connect students and citizens to volunteer opportunities throughout Lake County and surrounding areas via the Volunteer Connection Web site which allows volunteers to browse through and select a myriad of volunteer opportunities.
Collaborate with public agencies, non-profit organizations and private businesses to draw attention to the impact volunteers make on Lake County's communities. Promote special projects and events held by community based organizations and their partners. Work with state, national and international organizations on advocacy surrounding volunteerism. Coordinate various volunteer recognition and recuritment events throughout the year that applaud thousands of volunteers that contribute to the betterment of Lake County. Designee as the lead agency for Emergency Support Function (ESF) 15 (Volunteers and Donations) within the Lake County Emergency Operations Center (EOC) and serves as the liaison to the state's EOC. In the event that a disaster adversely impacts Lake County, ESF 15 will set up and manage a Disaster Volunteer Reception Center to coordinate the use of unaffiliated volunteers helping in the community.
Through the Council of Volunteer Coordinators, organizations throughout Lake County and the surrounding areas are taught how to mobilize and effectively manage volunteer resources for the greatest possible impact on their specific causes and needs.
Initiate and partner with other agencies on various projects organized to commemorate National Days of Service.
Thousands of volunteers around the country and 15 from Lake County Volunteer Program received presidential recognition for their service. Lake County Volunteer Program is one of the only local certified nominating organization.
