David Heath has been with the Lake County Board of County Commissioners since May 2011. He was appointed as County Manager in September 2012, after previously serving as Deputy County Manager. Heath reports to the five-member Board of County Commissioners and is responsible for the professional management and oversight of approximately 751 employees and an annual budget of over $380 million.
Heath has over 30 years of public and private experience in management and planning. During his 27 years with Orange County, he served as Deputy County Administrator for 11 years. Prior work experience also included employment with the East Central Florida Regional Planning Council and a private transportation planning firm.
Heath grew up in Orlando and attended Orange County Public Schools. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from Florida State University and obtained a Master's Degree in Public Policy from the University of Central Florida. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners.
Heath and his wife, May, have two daughters, Jenifer and Kristin.
