Sandy has been serving as the County Attorney in Lake County since 1995. Prior to assuming the County Attorney position, he was in private practice in the Tavares area from 1977 to 1995. Sandy was admitted to the Florida Bar in November 1976 after receiving his Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. He is Board Certified in City, County and Local Government Law.

Sandy is a member and past President of the Lake County Bar Association, a member of the Florida Bar Association and a member and past President of the Florida Association of County Attorneys.

Sandy is married, has 5 children and 8 grandchildren.
