Enforces ordinances governing the care and keeping of domestic animals and livestock. Responds to service calls and provides professional customer service, capturing and transporting stray, vicious and/or diseased animals to the animal shelter, issuing citations and testifying in court as necessary.
High School Diploma or GED with one year of college or vocational school education in animal control, public safety, law enforcement, code enforcement or a closely related field. Requires two (2) years experience working with animals and the general public; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential job functions. Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Class "E" Driver’s License. Must possess or obtain certificates as Animal Control Officer and Chemical Capture. This position requires weekend, holiday and on-call duty.
