Responsible for the daily activities of the Fire/Rescue Division and assisting the Fire Chief in day-to-day administrative and/or operational matters. Duties include budgeting, purchasing, short term planning and goal setting, strategic planning, personnel issues, coordinating vehicles, building maintenance, fire code issues, responding to major fire or hazardous material incidents as a command officer, and special projects as assigned by the Fire Chief.
Bachelor’s Degree in Fire Science or related field, supplemented by six (6) years of progressively responsible experience in supervising personnel; and planning and coordinating activities in Fire/Rescue; or any equivalent combination of related education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential job functions. Must have Florida State Certificate of Compliance, State of Florida Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Municipal Fire Inspector’s certification, Fire Instructor certification, and Fire Officer I certification. Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Class " D" Driver’s License with an "E" endorsement. Preference will be afforded to graduates of the Executive Fire Officer.
