The Green Swamp
The Green Swamp is an important ecosystem of Central Florida as it consists of more than 100,000 acres in Lake, Polk and Sumter counties. The drainage from the Green Swamp forms the headwaters of the Withlacoochee, Hillsborough, Oklawaha and Peace River watersheds. In addition, the vast area of swamps and bogs is a primary recharge area for the Floridan aquifer. Learn more about the Green Swamp.
