Office and Lab Facilities

Built in 1961, the building housing the Lake County Mosquito & Aquatic Plant Management Division is located on about 3 acres in downtown Tavares. The main office includes administrative offices and an entomology laboratory.

Bulk Pesticide Storage
Also located on site are the bulk-pesticide storage area, fleet staging area, bulk-petroleum depot and maintenance shop. The pesticide storage area includes a 1,200-gallon tank and two 1,000-gallon storage tanks for malathion and a 1,000-gallon mix tank for permethrin. The pesticide storage tanks are covered to prevent exposure to inclement weather and are surrounded by a non-permeable secondary containment wall. The Florida Department of Environmental Protection inspects the storage plant periodically for compliance to state and federal laws.
