Authority
Pursuant to Section 489.127, Florida Statutes, the board of building examiners is hereby authorized to enforce provisions of Chapter 6 relating to unlicensed contractors.

Pursuant to Section 489.131(7), Florida Statutes, the board of building examiners is hereby authorized to enforce the provisions of Chapter 6 relating to licensed contractors.

Pursuant to sections 125.01(1)(i) and 553.80, Florida Statutes, the board of building examiners is hereby authorized to enforce all other provisions of Chapter 6, concerning building codes.

Appointing Authority
The Board of County Commissioners shall appoint members of the Board of Building Examiners.

Composition, Qualifications, Terms and Removal
The Board of Building Examiners shall have nine (9) members.

The membership of the Board of Building Examiners shall whenever practical, include at a minimum an architect, a business person, an engineer, and at least one (1) contractor who is registered or certified under section 489.105(3)(a)-(c), Florida Statutes, and at least one (1) contractor who is registered or certified under section 489.105(3)(d)-(o), Florida Statutes, and must include three (3) consumer members who are not and have never been members of a profession regulated under this part, or a member of any closely related profession, Chapter 471, Chapter 481, or Chapter 489, Florida Statutes.

Meetings
The Board of Building Examiners meetings are open to the public and take place monthly at 315 W. Main St., Administration Building (Round Courthouse), County Commission Chambers, Tavares, Fla. The meetings are held the first Thursday of each month at 4 p.m.

Functions
The purpose of the Board of Building examiners meetings is to hear disciplinary cases and other matters relating to licensed and unlicensed contractors practicing in Lake County.
