The following will be inspected at the Pool Steel/Ground inspection:
- All steel grounded with minimum #8 copper wire;
- Electrical connections at "wet niche" (pool lights) can only be protected with a listed potting compound ;
- Pool steel inspected for proper spacing and laps;
- Pool steel checked for elevation/clearances;
- Soil checked for vegetation and drainage;
- Plumbing piping pressure tested to 35 PSI. including vent piping, if used;
- Safety fences for pool excavation;
- Underpinning for foundation with sealed plans; and
- Minimum of two suction inlets that are a minimum of 3 feet apart or located on different planes. They must be interconnected to work simultaneously
The following will be checked at Final Inspection:
- Anti-Vortex drain covers inspected to meet Standard ANSI/ASME A 112.19.8M;
- Cleaner suction inlets must have permanently installed self-closing flapper valves (skimmers are exempt);
- Above ground pools have pool's edge 48 inches above grade with a removable ladder or steps;
- Above ground pools may have a 48 barrier above pool edge with removable ladder or steps;
- All metal within 5 feet of pool edge MUST be bonded;
- All pool screen enclosures bonded ;
- Pool pumps must be bonded with disconnects at motor;
- Pump size must be same as required for engineered vent pipe system, if used;
- GFCI protected outlet must be provided between 10 and 20 feet from pool edge and must be within the screen enclosure area if present; and
- Pool/Spa will have an approved safety cover per ATSM F11346.91 or meet barrier requirements. REMEMBER - No Barrier, No Final!
The following was included upon adoption of the 2002 Florida Building Code.
- All windows within 60 inches of pool's edge and bottom edge of glass is less than 60 inches above the deck are required to be safety glass
