Planning & Community Design Division has a staff of 12 full-time employees, including six professional planners.
The Division mission is to provide a better quality of life for all Lake County citizens by facilitating the development of a well designed, efficient, healthy, and safely built environment that enhances community identity, co-exists with the natural environment, and promotes sustainable development.
The Planning & Community Design Division is responsible for the review of all commercial, industrial, public facility and residential site development within unincorporated Lake County for compliance and consistency with the Lake County Land Development Regulations and Comprehensive Plan.
The other major function of the Division is the review of application requests to change or alter zoning designations for specific properties within the unincorporated area of Lake County. The application requests are reviewed for compliance and consistency with the Lake County Land Development Regulations and Comprehensive Plan. Recommendations on those requests are made to the Zoning Board and the Board of County Commissioners for their consideration.
Planning & Community Design is also responsible for maintaining the internal consistency of the Land Development Regulations and consistency of those regulations with the goals, objectives and policies of the Comprehensive Plan.
