An extensive online survey was conducted by the Planning & Community Design Division during the Lake County Fair in April 2005. With two laptops setup at the Lake County Fairgrounds, planners encouraged residents to take 10 minutes of their time to complete the survey.

After the fair concluded, the survey was posted on the Lake County Government Web site for all residents to complete. After more than a month online, the survey concluded with more than 1,800 residents responding to the inquiry.

The survey responses helped give planners direction on what citizens viewed as the most important characteristics of their community. The survey information, in addition to the public input received at a series of community meetings in February and March, were used to guide the goals, objectives and policies of the comprehensive plan.
