Road Construction Projects
as of March 27, 2008
Recently Completed Projects (October 1, 2007 to date):
  1. Hammock Ridge Road (South Clermont Connector) – New construction of a 24-foot wide roadway extending from #1040 Lakeshore Drive to #1350 Citrus Tower Boulevard in the Clermont area (Project No. 2006-01).  The project was awarded on February 7, 2006, to Dewitt Excavating, Inc. in the amount of $13,133,228.93.  Construction was substantially complete in October 2007.
  2. #4523 Sleepy Hollow Road – Realign the roadway at the intersection of US-441 in the Leesburg area (Project No. 2006-12).  The project was awarded on February 20, 2007, to WRS Infrastructure & Environment, Inc. in the amount of $988,303.  Construction was substantially complete in November 2007. 
 
Projects Under Construction:
  1. #2824 Dewey Robbins Road  – Pave a clay road from US-27 to #2924 Turkey Lake Road in the Howey-in-the-Hills area.  The project was awarded on October 23, 2007, to Art Walker Construction, Inc. in the amount of $576,832.78.  Construction is anticipated to be complete in June 2008.
  2. Lake Kathryn Subdivision Phase VI – The sixth and final phase of a Community Development Block Grant to pave the following roads in the Lake Kathryn community located in Northeast Lake County:  Azalea Avenue from Panther Street to Hibiscus Avenue.  The project was awarded to on November 6, 2007, to Art Walker Construction, Inc. in the amount of $180,649.82.  Construction is anticipated to be complete in June 2008.
  3. #8165 Keene Road – Phase II project to pave a clay road from 100 feet north of County Line Road to the pavement near SR-19.  The project was awarded on October 23, 2007, to Art Walker Construction, Inc. in the amount of $670,652.93.  Construction is anticipated to be complete in July 2008.
  4. CR-450A – Construct 5-foot sidewalk from #7265 Church Street to #7367 Marshall Street in the Umatilla area (Project No. 2007-03).  The project was awarded on October 23, 2007, to Art Walker Construction, Inc. in the amount of $106,004.90.  Construction is anticipated to be complete in July 2008.
  5. Countywide Resurfacing – Fiscal year 2006/2007 project to resurface roads the attached list of roads throughout the County (Project No. 2008-01).  The project was awarded to Orlando Paving Company in the amount of $967,000.  Construction is anticipated to be complete in July 2008. 
  6. #3444 Lane Park Cutoff Road – Construct a sidewalk from SR-19 to CR-561 in the Tavares area (Project No. 2008-01).  The project was awarded to Orlando Paving Company in the amount of $110,057.90.  Construction is anticipated to be complete in September 2008.
  7. #1548 Mohawk Road – Construct a sidewalk from South Avenue to CR-50 in the Minneola area (Project No. 2008-01).  The project was awarded to Orlando Paving Company in the amount of $61,128.90.  Construction is anticipated to be complete in September 2008.
 
Near-Future Construction
  1. #1429 Max Hooks Road – Rebuild roadway, widen to 24 feet, and resurface from SR-50 to CR-565A in the Groveland area (Project No. 2008-02).  The project was awarded to Swell Construction, Inc. in the amount of $289,756.50.
  2. CR-439 – Construct a right westbound turn lane at the intersection of SR-44 in the Eustis area (Project No. 2008-03).  The project was awarded to Professional Dirt Service, Inc. in the amount of $100,207.22.
  3. CR-44 – Construct a left westbound turn lane and a right eastbound turn lane at the intersection of Hicks Ditch Road in the Eustis area (Project No. 2008-03).  The project was awarded to Professional Dirt Service, Inc. in the amount of $202,350.12.
  4. #6068 Orange Avenue & #5876 Estes Road –  Construct turn lanes at the intersection in the Eustis area (Project No. 2008-03).  The project was awarded to Professional Dirt Service, Inc. in the amount of $270,925.84.
  5. Diane Drive & Lisa Drive – Special assessment project to pave to County standards two roads in the Venetian Village Sorrento Subdivision located in the Lake Jem area:  Diane Drive from CR-448 to Lisa Drive and Lisa Drive from Diane Drive to the end (Project No. SA-101).  Bids are scheduled to be received on May 8, 2008. 
 
Projects Pending
  1. #2824 Dewey Robbins Road  – Construct turn lanes at the intersection of US-27 in the Howey-in-the-Hills area.  The project is scheduled to be bid in April 2008.
  2. #1040 Lakeshore Drive & #0840 Oswalt Road – Intersection improvements and signalization in the Clermont area.  The project is scheduled to be bid in May 2008.
  3. CR-44 – Widen and resurface from CR-473 to SR-19 in the Eustis/Grand Island area.  The project is scheduled to be bid in July 2008.
  4. CR-44 – Construct turn lanes at the intersection of Forest Drive (entrance to Mid-Florida Lakes in the Lisbon area.  The project is scheduled to be bid in July 2008.
  5. CR-44 & #6041 Shelley Drive – Construction turn lanes at the intersection. In the Lisbon area.  This is a Local Agency Program project with the Florida Department of Transportation, FM #422420.  The project is scheduled to be bid in July 2008.
