Road Construction Projects

- Countywide Resurfacing – Fiscal year 2007/2008 project to resurface segments on the following roads throughout the County: CR-439, CR-44, CR-448A, CR-452, #1254 Hancock Road, #1040 Lakeshore Drive, #4521 Tomato Hill Road, #4189 Troon Avenue, and #1643 Washington Street. The project was awarded to DAB Constructors, Inc. in the amount of $802,928.23. Construction was completed in November 2008.
- Diane Drive & Lisa Drive – Special assessment project to pave to County standards two roads in the Venetian Village Sorrento Subdivision located in the Lake Jem area: Diane Drive from CR-448 to Lisa Drive and Lisa Drive from Diane Drive to the end (Project No. SA-101). Through a public hearing the project was awarded to Boykin Construction, Inc. on July 15, 2008, in the amount of $282,757.50. Construction was completed in December 2008.

- #1040 Lakeshore Drive & #0840 Oswalt Road – Intersection improvements and signalization in the Clermont area (Project No. 2008-06). The project was awarded to State Asphalt Corporation on July 15, 2008, in the amount of $539,760.75. Construction is anticipated to be completed in January 2009.
- CR-452 & #6549 South Fish Camp Road/#6847 Fish Camp Road – Construct turn lanes in the Grand Island area (Project No. 2009-02). The project was awarded to Barracuda Building Corporation on November 18, 2008, in the amount of $208,774. Construction is anticipated to be completed in March 2009.
- CR-44A & #5876 Estes Road – Intersection improvements and signalization in the Eustis area (Project No. 2008-08). The project was awarded to Boykin Construction, Inc. on August 19, 2008 in the amount of $554,334. Construction is anticipated to be completed in March 2009.
- CR-466 – Widening an existing two-lane highway to four-lanes from Sumter County to #6903 Rolling Acres Road (Segment A) in the Lady Lake area. This is a Transportation Regional Incentive Project with the Florida Department of Transportation (CR-44 from Sumter County to US-27/441). Through a Developer’s Agreement with The Villages of Lake-Sumter, Inc., Segment A was awarded to Rainey Construction, Inc on August 12, 2008. Construction is anticipated to be completed in March 2009.
- Countywide Drainage Improvement Project – Drainage and water quality improvement project in the following four (4) areas: #9788 Acorn Road located along the St. Johns River in the Astor area, #0736 Beverly Court located off Lakeshore Drive in the south Clermont area, #3126 Orange Avenue located along the southern shore of Lake Harris in the Yalaha area, and #3511D Porto Bello Avenue located along the western shore on Lake Harris in the south Leesburg area (Project No. 2008-04). The project was awarded to Blue Ox Land Services, Inc. on October 7, 2008, in the amount of $714,478.85. Construction is anticipated to be complete in March 2009.
- CR-452 & #6745 Apiary Road – Construct turn lanes in the Grand Island area (Project No. 2009-01). The project was awarded to C.W. Roberts Contracting, Inc. on November 18, 2008, in the amount of $414,864.50. Construction is anticipated to be complete in April 2009.
- #2824 Dewey Robbins Road & #2625 South Dewey Robbins Road – Pave clay roads from #2924 Turkey Lake Road to #2729 East Dewey Robbins Road in the Howey-in-the-Hills area (Project No. 2008-07). The project was awarded to Art Walker Construction, Inc. on September 16, 2008, in the amount of $694,904. Construction is anticipated to be complete in May 2009.

- CR-44 – Widen and resurface from CR-473 to CR-452, construct turn lanes at the intersection of Forest Drive (entrance to Mid-Florida Lakes), and through a Local Agency Program Agreement with the Florida Department of Transportation, FM #422420, construct turn lanes at the intersection of #6041 Shelley Drive in the Eustis/Grand Island/Lisbon area (Project No. 2009-03). The project was awarded to DAB Constructors, Inc. in the amount of $4,024,772.47. Construction is anticipated to begin in February 2009.

- #3215 Hollondel Road – Construct a regional stormwater pond located on the southwest side of Lake Harris (Project No. 2009-05). Bids are scheduled to be received on February 26, 2009.
