Residents of Lake County are encouraged to take advantage of recycling any eligible waste.

The following materials may be placed in a curbside recycling bin:

Newspaper or magazines Place loose in bin.
Do not place newspaper in brown paper bags or plastic bags.
Plastic Beverage Containers Remove lids and rinse containers.
Recycle plastic bottles having a neck, #1 through #7, any color
Clear, brown and green glass Recycle clear glass food and beverage containers.
Remove lids, and rinse container.
Paper labels do not need to be removed.
Aluminum Beverage Cans Rinse and recycle all aluminum beverage cans.
Steel Cans Rinse and place in bin.
Recycle all steel (tin) food and pet food cans.
Household batteries Place batteries in clear plastic bag before placing in bin.
Cardboard Corrugated cardboard (moving boxes) must be flattened to fit underneath the yellow recycling bin. (Cut down to 3' x 2') Paperboard boxes (cereal and cookie boxes) must be flattened to fit inside the recycling bin.

The drop-off facilities accept the above recycling items plus mixed office paper, telephone books, and plastics without a neck (#1-7)

 
The following materials should be brought to a drop-off facility or coordinated with the hauler for pick-up:
Electronics

Discarded electronics are electronic waste (e-waste) and belong in our E-Cycling program. Lake County Residents can bring their discarded electronic items to the Lake County Landfill or any County Residential Drop-off facility for recycling at no extra charge. In addition, residents of unincorporated areas of the County can call their hauler for a bulk curbside pick-up of Televisions** (19 “ or larger) and heavy computer monitors (CRT type).

Examples of Electronics waste are: Computers, VCRs, Fax machines, CD players, cell phones, telephones, Stereos and Televisions** (larger than 19 inches).

** Please take unwanted televisions smaller than 19 inches to the Central Solid Waste Facility or to any residential drop-off location.
