Lake County has been awarded $2,807,500.00 under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) Formula Grant Program (U.S. Department of Energy, Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy under Award Number DE-EE0000786). Per the Lake County Board of County Commissioners (BCC), the County’s initial approach to the funding opportunity was to prepare an Energy Efficiency and Conservation Strategy (EECS) geared toward comprehensively meeting the EECBG program objectives and maximizing resulting job creation.

The EECS was completed, approved by the BCC and submitted to the Department of Energy (DOE) in November 2009. Lake County was notified of DOE’s approval of the EECS in April 2010. On May 18, 2010, the BCC accepted the terms and conditions of the amended award, thereby initiating the implementation stage of the EECS and directing commencement of the EECBG Activities identified therein.

In collaboration with the Growth Management Department and the Lake County Green Team, multiple Lake County departments and divisions will engage in performing the work required to implement the eight (8) EECBG Activities and associated projects within the EECS.
