Mercury Bounty Program

Fairgoers to the Second Annual Lake County Green Fair can turn in mercury-containing thermostats and thermometers for a $5 gift card to Wal-Mart. The Mercury Bounty Program is sponsored by Covanta Energy. Mercury presents a health hazard to humans and is harmful to the environment. The goal of the program is to get mercury out of homes. A broken thermometer can expose a family to the dangerous substance.
