The Lake County Historical Museum offers an exciting and informative view of Lake County’s history. Every month, new exhibits are on display and the museum offers a variety of programs for the community’s enjoyment.
The museum is located on the first floor of the Lake County Historic Courthouse, located at 317 W. Main St., Tavares. We are open on Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m., except legal holidays. Group tours please call 352-343-9890 to schedule. Gov. Edward A. Perry signed the bill that created Lake County from portions of Orange and Sumter Counties. The new county became a legal entity 60 days later.
