Lake County’s resident professional orchestra readies for its seventh season

The Florida Lakes Symphony Orchestra continues to celebrate its seventh season. Audiences throughout Lake County have come to value this emerging group as ranking with the great orchestras in quality of performance and repertoire. This elegant orchestra is known for musical surprises and beautiful music.

Based in Lake County, the not-for-profit orchestra features 60 professional musicians from all over the world who live in Florida. Audrey Sanders is the executive director and co-founder of the orchestra, and carries on the passion and work of her late husband, composer and pianist Guy Saint-Clair. Under the baton of the symphony's charismatic and award-winning conductor, Michael J. Garasi, the orchestra has solidly established a reputation for excellence.

The seventh season by the Florida Lakes Symphony Orchestra includes the following concerts at 7:30 p.m. at the St. Patrick Catholic Church of Mount Dora, located at 6803 Old Highway 441, and at The South Lake High School, located at 15600 Silver Eagle Road in Groveland.

  • Waters of the World — Memorable Music of the "Moldau", "Blue Danube", "Florida Suite", "Pirates of the Caribbean", "Swan Lake", "Russian Sailor's Dance".

  • Tribute to Guy Saint-Clair — Slavic Fireworks written with Guy's special touch will enchant you in these powerful masterpieces. "Slavic Dances" & "Slavic Concerto" performed by pianist Victor Nikolov will make this an evening to remember.
    • Feb. 16 in Mount Dora
    • Feb. 17 in South Lake


  • La Chaim- To Life! — To welcome the new Traditional Congregation to our community, these are endearing remembrances and masterpieces: "Fiddler on the Roof", "Schindler's List", "Rabbi's Dance", "Danse Bacchanale" from Samson & Delilah and more.
    • March 22 in Mount Dora
    • March 23 in South Lake


  • Magical Journeys — "Oak & Crown" Overture from "Merlin" and duet with Nimue (Rachelle Fleming who will also sing "As Time Goes By" will begin the evening, then "Harry Potter Suite", "Hook-Flight to Neverland", "Sleeping Beauty Waltz" with the Mount Dora School of Ballet, "Mid-Summer Night's Dream Overture" and "Latin Flute Concerto" keep us breathless in this adventure-packed and thrilling concert - a spectacular conclusion to the season.
