For immediate release - April 5, 2005
TAVARES — The Lake County Board of County Commissioners accepted Tuesday morning the resignation of County Manager Bill Neron.
Neron was thanked for his service to the County by the Board. A 35-year veteran of local governments in Florida, Neron has previously served as assistant county administrator in Alachua, Lee and Escambia counties.
Appointed to the Lake County manager position in October 2001, Neron has brought stability to many County operations and helped lead the community through the series of hurricanes last year.
Until a replacement manager can be properly retained, the Board designated County Attorney Sandy Minkoff as interim county manager. Minkoff is expected to remain as interim county manager until at least next week’s
County Commission meeting scheduled for 9 a.m., Tuesday, April 12, at the Lake Administration Building, 315 W. Main St., Tavares.
County Commissioner Welton Cadwell proposes at the next Board meeting that the Board Chairman consult Assistant County Manager Cindy Hall about potentially acting as interim county manager.
“I think she is very capable,” said County Commission Chairman Jennifer Hill.
Cadwell added, “I can point to five different people in this room that can do the job, but for now I think she is the best for it.”
