TAVARES — Hurricane Katrina is expected to pass well to the west of Lake County, however residents should still be aware isolated, minor flooding is a possibility for of the County.
With isolated, minor flooding a possibility, Lake County officials are urging residents to take appropriate precautions. Sandbags will be available on Saturday, Aug. 27, and Sunday, Aug. 28, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at three Department of Public Safety Fire Rescue Division fire stations located at:
- Station 14, 42700 State Road 19, Altoona
- Station 53, 2505 Spring Lake Road, Fruitland Park
- Station 109, 11630 Lakeshore Drive, Clermont
To report a life-threatening flooding issue during the weekend, residents are encouraged to call the Lake County Sheriff’s Office at (352) 343-2101.
Residents are always encouraged to be prepared during hurricane season by updating their family’s disaster plan and restocking their family disaster kit. For more information about hurricane preparedness, go here.
