TAVARES — The Florida Association of Counties (FAC) executive committee recently appointed Lake County Commissioner Welton Cadwell to the National Association of Counties (NACo) Board of Directors.
Cadwell joins Sarasota County Commissioner David Mills as the two county commission representatives from Florida on the 120-member Board. The role of the NACo Board of Directors is to supervise, manage and control the business and property of the association, as well as monitor and ensure that the association is meeting its mission of helping counties become more efficient and effective as they provide better services to their citizens.
In addition, NACo President Angelo Kyle appointed Cadwell to the NACo Community and Economic Development Steering Committee. This committee focuses on general community development and redevelopment, housing programs, subdivision regulations, building and housing codes, public works and economic development.
“This is a great opportunity for us in Lake County to not only have more representation in Tallahassee but also in Washington,” Cadwell said. “I appreciate these appointments from the Florida Association of Counties and the NACo president.”
Elected to the Lake County Board of County Commissioners in 1992, Cadwell is currently the FAC president-elect.
