TAVARES — Residents from the communities of Mount Plymouth and Sorrento are encouraged to attend a community meeting Saturday, Dec. 3, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the J.A. Croson Company building, located at 24925 State Road 46, Sorrento.
The community meeting is the second in a series to discuss the Mount Plymouth-Sorrento Small Area Framework Study. The focus of the meeting is to provide residents an opportunity to participate in envisioning and shaping how the two distinct communities grow in the future.
Accepted by the Board of County Commissioners in 2003, the framework study contains recommendations on residential densities, subdivision design, community commercial types and development form, all relating to furthering cohesiveness of community character. At the first community meeting, residents explored the recommendation, concepts and principles of the framework study relating to the "market square and town center" concept.
The series of community meetings are hosted by the Lake County Department of Growth Management and the Mount Plymouth-Sorrento Planning Advisory Committee, which was created by the Board of County Commissioners shortly after the acceptance of the framework study report. The 11-member citizen advisory committee helps to further investigate the concepts brought forth in the framework study and make recommendations for implementation.
