TAVARES — The recently revamped Lake County Economic Development and Tourism Web site, www.lakecountyfl.com, added another exciting feature this week designed to further increase visitor awareness about the many tourism hot spots in the County.
The new section, titled “Lake County Hometown Highlights,” features six places of interest in the areas of accommodations, restaurants, attractions, events, shopping and nature activities. Every several months, the list will be refreshed with six new places.
The new feature is similar to an online tourism magazine, according to Greg Mihalic, Director of the Department of Economic Development and Tourism.
“Its original intent was to attract travel writers to Lake County, but the information provided could also be valuable to visitors and residents,” he said.
In the first issue of “Hometown Highlights,” staff from the Lake County Information Outreach section details a broad range of places to see and things to do. From the Yalaha Country Bakery to the Mount Dora Historic Inn, the online articles provide insight to some of the most popular attractions and best-kept secrets in Lake County. To view all six articles from “Lake County Hometown Highlights” log on to www.lakecountyfl.gov/hometown_highlights/.
The new Lake County Economic Development and Tourism Web site was launched in October 2004. A few highlights of the new site include an online calendar, digital postcards, screensavers and streaming video. Along with the online calendar, which allows Web surfers to submit events and happenings in the County, the Web site features a gallery of high-resolution photographs from Lake County and a host of video clips about the many exciting adventures awaiting tourists.
