Emergency Management officials urge preparedness as hurricane season approaches
With the Atlantic hurricane season beginning June 1, now is the perfect time for residents to take a few simple safety steps to help keep their families prepared during any emergency.

Lake County Arts & Cultural Alliance to host networking meeting on June 1
The Lake County Arts & Cultural Alliance is hosting a networking meeting open to all local artists and cultural organizations from 4 - 6 p.m. on Monday, June 1 at the Leesburg Center for the Arts, 429 W. Magnolia St. in Leesburg. At 5 p.m., individual artists, visual arts organizations, performing arts organizations and those involved in major local events will break into groups for roundtable discussions regarding projects occurring throughout the county.

Road work may cause disruptions in LakeXpress service in Leesburg
LakeXpress passengers traveling through Leesburg along Routes 1 and 2 may experience minor service interruptions during the resurfacing of Citizens Boulevard at the intersection of U.S. Highway 27 near the bus transfer location. Milling and resurfacing in the area will take place from Sunday, May 31 – Wednesday, June 3 between the hours of 7 p.m. and 7 a.m., with lane closures during the evenings.

Off-duty Lake County firefighter performs CPR; helps save toddler found at bottom of resort swimming pool
Lake County Fire Rescue Lt. Shannon Bush only thought he was taking a vacation from work when he and his family decided to spend a few days at an Orlando-area resort last week. Instead, the 14-year department veteran and Emergency Medical Technician found himself saving the life of a 4-year-old who nearly drowned.
