North Hancock Road to open fully to traffic
The Lake County Public Works Department is announcing the full opening of North Hancock Road from Old Highway 50 East to Fosgate Road on Friday, April 29.

Lake County Water Safety Team wins national award for drowning prevention initiatives
The Lake County Water Safety Team received the National Water Safety Congress Award of Merit, presented on March 8 at the International Boating & Water Safety Summit in San Diego, California. Team member William S. Griswold, of Mount Dora, presented the award during the April 14 Lake County Water Safety Advisory Committee’s quarterly meeting.

Lake County to light up multi-use fields at East Lake Community Park
The Lake County Board of County Commissioners is celebrating the lighting of the two multi-purpose recreational fields at the East Lake Community Park, the home base for the Lake County Soccer Club, on Friday, May 6 at 6 p.m. at the park, located at 24809 Wallick Road in Sorrento.

Sponsorship opportunities available for the 5th Annual Wings & Wildflowers Festival
Sponsorship registration is now open for Lake County’s 5th Annual Wings and Wildflowers Festival, to be held Oct. 14-16 at Venetian Gardens, 201 E. Dixie Ave., Leesburg. In partnership with city of Leesburg, the Wings and Wildflowers Festival will showcase Lake County as a premier birding destination, highlighting acres of preserves, forests and passive parklands. Last year’s festival offered more than 100 trips and educational programs, many of which were free, attracting a record 5,000 visitors to all corners of Lake County.
