SBDC’s ‘Business Plan Writing Made Easy’ class to assist entrepreneurs
The Small Business Development Center (SBDC) at UCF-Lake County, funded by Lake County and residing in Lake County’s Business Opportunity Centers, is offering a hands-on seminar intended to help entrepreneurs and business owners compose successful business plans.

Lake County to host 2 learning sessions on Tourism Capital Projects Funding
The Lake County Economic Development & Tourism Department will host two application learning sessions for the Capital Projects Funding Program. Both sessions will take place at the Lake County Agricultural Education Center’s auditorium, 1951 Woodlea Road, Tavares. The session dates are from 2 to 4 p.m. June 24, or 2 to 4 p.m. Sept. 9.

County Food Drive collects more than 2.5 tons of goods for children in need
At a Monday-morning press conference, Commissioner Sean Parks thanked the Lake County government, as well as the community, for goods donated during the Annual Backpack Food Drive. The Lake County Board of County Commissioners, in partnership with the Constitutional Officers, the Public Defender’s office and the State Attorney’s office, collected a total of 5,014.73 lbs. of food.

The Lake County Economic Development and Tourism Department has created a new program called “Discover Lake,” aimed at attracting tourism into the county by offering visitors a discount at all participating restaurants, attractions and hotels.

The Lake County Solid Waste Division, in partnership with the city of Clermont Police Department, is encouraging Lake County residents to dispose of unwanted medications and toxic materials in a safe and environmentally sensitive way – helping to prevent improper use by others – at an upcoming Prescription Drugs and Household Hazardous Waste Collection.
