Saturday in the Garden series presents ‘Winterizing Your Landscape’
The University of Florida’s Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (UF/IFAS) Extension in Lake County is hosting “Saturday in the Garden – Winterizing Your Landscape” at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 6, at the Lake County Agricultural Center, 1951 Woodlea Road, Tavares. The class is part of the "Saturday in the Garden” speaker series and will be presented by Brooke Moffis, Residential Horticulture Agent with UF/IFAS Extension in Lake County.

Residential curbside collection service days change for some due to Thanksgiving Day holiday
Residents who normally have residential curbside collection services for either household garbage, recycling or yard waste debris on Thursdays, will not receive service on Thursday, Nov. 27 due to the Thanksgiving Day holiday. Collection will shift to Friday, Nov. 28 for those customers who have Thursday pick-ups. Customers that are scheduled to have collection on Friday, Nov. 28 will have their items collected on Saturday, Nov. 29 instead.

The Lake County Board of County Commissioners will present the State of the County address at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 2 in the County Commission Chambers of the Lake County Administration Building, located at 315 W. Main St., Tavares.

Winning photos chosen for 2015 Adopt-a-Lake calendar contest
Contestants submitted more than 200 photos of Lake County’s waterways for the 2015 Adopt-a-Lake calendar photo contest, but only one picture could win the coveted cover spot. After two weeks of online voting, that honor goes to Beverly Abdendour, who snapped a colorful sunset photo of Lake Eustis.
