Government offices to close for President Day
All offices of the Lake County Board of County Commissioners, Clerk of Courts, Property Appraiser, Supervisor of Elections and Tax Collector will be closed Monday, Feb. 15 for Presidents Day. Offices will reopen with regularly scheduled hours on Tuesday, Feb. 16.

Lake County’s Extension Service hosts public classes about hydroponics and pruning roses
The University of Florida’s Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (UF/IFAS) Extension in Lake County is offering two educational horticulture classes in February.
The “Pruning Roses” class will be hosted at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 9 and the “Homeowner Hydroponics” presentation will be offered at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 20, both at the Lake County Extension Center and Discovery Gardens, located at 1951 Woodlea Road, Tavares.

Lake County Emergency Management to host ‘Severe Weather Awareness Day: El Niño’
To help citizens become better prepared for weather disasters, local public safety agencies will join Lake County Emergency Management in displaying emergency apparatus during the 2nd Annual Severe Weather Awareness Day on Saturday, Feb. 20 from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. at the Lake County Fairgrounds and Expo Center, 2101 County Road 452 in Eustis.
