Lake County’s birding and ecotourism sites to be featured on ‘Birding Adventures TV’ with James Currie
Lake County’s unique natural resources and status as a premier birding destination will be featured on ‘Birding Adventures TV’ with host, international birder James Currie. The show, which details Currie’s travels throughout some of the area’s top birding locations, will air at 7:30 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 30 on Discovery's Destination America Channel.

11th Annual Tavares African-American Heritage Festival to take place on Feb. 7
The 11th Annual Tavares African-American Heritage Festival, a free cultural and educational event celebrating the contributions of African Americans in Lake County, will be celebrated from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 7 at Wooton Park, located at 100 E. Ruby St. in Tavares.

Emergency Management Division to host Severe Weather Awareness Week public outreach event
Severe Weather Awareness Week is Feb. 2-6 in Florida. In recognition, the Lake County Emergency Management Division is collaborating with local law enforcement, fire and EMS agencies to host a public outreach event from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 31 at the Lake County Sheriff's Office South District Sub-Station, located at 15855 State Road 50 in Clermont.

UF/IFAS Extension offers ‘De-Clutter Your Life’ Program in Lady Lake
The University of Florida’s Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (UF/IFAS) Extension in Lake County will present “De-Clutter Your Life,” a free program to be held from 1- 2:30 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 26 at the Lady Lake Public Library, located at 225 W. Guava St. in Lady Lake.

Outdoor enthusiasts invited to Paddling Adventure and Clean-up on the Lower Wekiva River
The Lake County Water Authority, in conjunction with the Lake County Parks and Trails Division, is inviting participants to the “Paddling Adventure and Clean-up,” to be held from 9 a.m. -1 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 30. The group will meet at the Lower Wekiva River Preserve State Park at Katie's Landing, located at 262 Wekiva Park Drive, Sanford.
