TAVARES — Hurricane Dennis is expected to pass well to the west of Lake County, however, residents should still be aware severe weather is forecasted for the area this weekend.
“We need to remind people that we will have periods of severe weather and there may be tornadic activity,” said Jerry Smith, Emergency Management Division Director. “We ask everyone to be safe and take precautions for the current weather conditions.”
The National Weather Service office in Melbourne, Fla., is predicting cloudy and windy weather for Lake County on Saturday, July 9. Local heavy rainfall is possible with southeast winds of 20 to 30 mph with possible higher gusts.
Weather forecasters are expecting winds to taper into Sunday. A 60 percent chance of rain is expected for Saturday night and Sunday.
