TAVARES — Lake County elected officials, government managers and other involved citizens will convene for a Senior Leadership Briefing, Monday June 20, from 9 a.m. to noon at Lake-Sumter Community College, 9501 U.S. Highway 441, Leesburg.
The briefing, sponsored by the Lake County Department of Public Safety Emergency Management Division and conducted by Craig Fugate, Director of the Florida Division of Emergency Management, will inform leadership officials in Lake County of their responsibilities during a disaster and current trends in the emergency management field.
The briefing, to be held in the College's Magnolia Room, will also be used to introduce "Florida Prepares," a new concept that will allow for inclusion of private industry and non-profit organizations into emergency management processes and planning.
Additionally, Lake County Emergency Management Division Director Jerry Smith will be provide an update on recovery issues from last year's storms along with new preparations initiated for this year's hurricane season.
