TAVARES — The Lake County Historical Museum, located at 317 W. Main St. in Tavares, is readying for its Annual Festival of Trees by accepting applications for tree decorators.

The Holiday Tree Festival is scheduled for Dec. 4, 2009, to Jan. 8, 2010, with an opening reception on the first day at 2 p.m. Interested tree decorators are encouraged to apply by Nov. 20 by contacting Dr. Diane Kamp, Director of Lake County museums, at (352) 343-9600 or e-mailing dkamp@lakecountyfl.gov.

The Lake County Historical Museum provides a six-foot artificial tree for participants to decorate in any theme. One of the restrictions is electric lights and candles are not permitted.

Last year’s participants in the Holiday Tree Festival included Quilters Guild of Lake County, Lake Eustis Museum of Art, Umatilla Garden Club, Palm Garden of Tavares and Chain Stitchers Chapter of the Embroidery Guild Association. Visitors are encouraged to see the free holiday tree display Monday-Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., excluding holidays.
