LEESBURG — The Lake County Parks & Trails Division is conducting bird and butterfly surveys at PEAR Park, located at 5336 University Ave., Leesburg, on Thursday, Sept. 24, and is requesting the help of local bird and butterfly enthusiasts.

The bird survey will be conducted from 7 to 10 a.m. Park rangers are encouraging birders who can identify common birds by sight or sound to participate. The butterfly survey will be conducted from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. Volunteers participating in the butterfly survey should be able to identify most common species. The activity will include hiking about 2 miles on trails.
