FERNDALE — The Lake County Parks & Trails Division is hosting a Fall Migrant Hike at Ferndale Preserve, located off County Road 455 in South Lake County, on Saturday, Oct. 3, from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m.
During the 3-mile hike over uneven terrain through the preserve, participants will learn about fall migrating birds in the preserve. The 192-acre preserve is located on the western shore of Lake Apopka. Its high elevation and diverse ecosystem provide habitat for numerous birds, butterflies, reptiles, mammals and amphibians.
Participants are encouraged to wear appropriate clothing and footwear. Park rangers also recommend bringing binoculars, field guides, insect repellent, sunscreen, water and a snack.
