19th Annual Eustis African-American Heritage Festival scheduled for Feb. 18
Festivities include awards banquet, parade, festival and step show

RELEASE DATE: February 15, 2012

EUSTIS – The Eustis African-American Heritage Celebration Committee is inviting the community to attend the 19th Annual Eustis African-American Heritage Festival on Saturday, Feb. 18, from noon to 5 p.m. at Eustis High School’s Curtright Campus, located at 1801 Bates Ave. in Eustis. This is the oldest African-American heritage festival in Lake County.

The festivities will begin on Friday, Feb. 17, at 7 p.m. with the Black Achievers’ Award Banquet at the Eustis Community Center, located at 601 Northshore Drive. This semi-formal gala will honor current and former Eustis residents for their various achievements. The suggested donation for admission to the banquet is $25.

On Saturday, Feb. 18, the Eustis African-American Heritage Parade will begin at 10 a.m. The parade will march along Bates Avenue, ending at the Eustis High Curtright Campus field.

Following the parade, the main event, the 19th Annual Eustis African-American Heritage Festival will kick-off at noon. The festival will feature soul food, cultural exhibits, African arts and crafts, entertainment and activities for children. Numerous vendors are expected to be in attendance, including booths sponsored by community and health services entities that will disseminate information about the various services they provide to the community.

The final event of the festival will be a step show competition at Eustis High School, located at 1300 Washington Ave., beginning at 7 p.m. Attendees over 5 years old are asked to donate $10 for admission to this event.
