CLERMONT – On Saturday, March 3, 2012, Lake County will host the 2nd Annual Clermont Draft Legal Challenge from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Lake Louisa State Park, located at 7305 U.S. Highway 27 in Clermont.
Triathletes representing 28 states and over a dozen different countries will compete for athletic supremacy in this grueling triathlon. This event is expected to attract an abundance of visitors and spectators, both locally and from afar, as it consists of numerous world renowned and nationally known competitors.
The men’s group includes 2008 Olympian and Lake County resident Jarrod Shoemaker, as well as two time International Triathlon Union World Cup winner Matt Chrabot, among others.
The women’s field features of 2012 U.S. Olympian Gwen Jorgensen. Other female contestants include Jess Harrison (France), Ai Ueda (Japan) and Lake County residents Sarah Haskins (USA), Sara McLarty (USA) and Alicia Kaye (USA).
There will also be an age group draft legal race, a Youth F1 race and a standard age group sprint race. Contestants will compete for the coveted USA Triathlon Elite credentials. The top junior finishers will earn an opportunity to compete in the 2012 Triathlon Youth Elite and Junior Elite National Championships later this year.
