TAVARES – The Lake County Fire Rescue Division recently took a significant step in the enhancement of its communications and safety efforts with the purchase of 46 new voice amplifiers and 210 mounting brackets.
Fire Rescue was able to equip each front-line fire apparatus with 2 voice amplifiers and each member of its personnel with a mounting bracket for the amplifiers. The voice amplifiers allow for enhanced face-to-face and radio communications for those wearing self-contained breathing apparatuses during firefighting operations.
“The enhanced communications between personnel will go a long way in improving the overall safety and efficiency for our firefighters,” said John Jolliff, Public Safety Director/Fire Chief for Lake County.
The new equipment was purchased through an $18,518 grant from the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation, which awards grants to public safety agencies for the purchase of life-saving equipment, public education, natural disaster preparedness and career education.
