TAVARES – The Lake County Parks & Trails Division is inviting residents to attend events for the week of June 17-23. The week’s scheduled events are as follows:
• Two Beginning Birder classes are scheduled for Wednesday, June 20 from 9 to 11 a.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Palatlakaha Environmental and Agricultural Reserve (PEAR Park) Nature Center, located at 4800 University Ave. in Leesburg.
During these classes, participants will learn the basics of identifying the most common types of birds by listening to their songs. Reservations are strongly encouraged, as space is limited to 20 participants.
• On Saturday, June 23 a Beginning Birder class trip will be held at Venetian Gardens, located at 420 S. Canal St. in Leesburg from 8 a.m. to noon.
At this event, beginning birders will take a class trip, where they will get to partake in some hands-on learning in the field. This trip is limited to 20 participants and preference will be given to those who have previously attended classes.
All events are free and would-be participants are encouraged to bring water, snacks, sunscreen, insect repellent, a hat and hiking shoes.
