New pedestrian walkway to create more convenient route for residents visiting courthouse

RELEASE DATE: July 2, 2012

TAVARES – Beginning Monday, July 9, a new walkway between the Lake County Courthouse, located at 550 W. Main St. in Tavares and the parking garage, located on Sinclair Avenue, between Main and Alfred streets, will be open for pedestrians visiting the courthouse.

The previous walkway, in place since July 2010, directed visitors around the construction sites for the courthouse expansion and Emergency Communications and Operations Center facilities. This new walkway allows direct access to the entrance of the courthouse over a shorter distance.

Courtesy shuttle service that transports visitors from the parking garage, around the construction sites, to the entrance of the courthouse, will be discontinued on July 9.

For more information about the new walkway, call the Lake County Facilities Development and Management Department at 352-343-9760.
