TAVARES – On Monday, Aug. 13, construction will begin on a roundabout at the intersection of West Main Street and Sinclair Avenue in downtown Tavares.
The new roundabout, part of a downtown revitalization initiative, will help alleviate congestion at the intersection, enabling a smoother flow of traffic once completed.
Eastbound motorists traveling on West Main Street into downtown Tavares will be directed to turn north onto Sinclair Avenue, with Main Street being closed to vehicular traffic from Sinclair to Texas Avenue. The parking garage, located at the intersection of Sinclair Avenue and West Main Street, will remain open and will be accessible via this route.
In addition, West Main Street will be blocked near Texas Avenue to westbound motorists heading toward the Lake County Administration Building, located at 315 W. Main St. in Tavares. Detour signs will be posted, directing motorists north and south onto adjacent streets. Residents traveling this route who need to access the parking garage can do so by turning right onto any northbound street, then turning left onto West Alfred Street, before finally making a left turn onto Sinclair Avenue.
Construction is expected to last for 90 days, and County offices in the area will remain open. During the construction period, residents and visitors are urged to use extreme caution when driving or walking in the vicinity of the construction work.
