EUSTIS – The Lake County Solid Waste Division, in conjunction with the Eustis Police Department, is inviting residents to dispose of unwanted prescription drugs and household hazardous waste at a collection event set for Thursday, Aug. 30, from 9 a.m. to noon in the parking lot of the Eustis Square Shopping Center, located at 218 W. Ardice Ave. in Eustis.
This event will allow residents to safely and easily get rid of unwanted prescription medications. The disposal process helps prevent improper use by others, and also ensures that all of the collected medications are discarded in an environmentally sensitive manner.
Lake County’s Household Hazardous Waste Mobile Unit will also be present to collect household hazardous waste. Items such as lawn and gardening materials, photo and swimming pool chemicals, paint and related products, cleaning solutions, motor oil and used gas, batteries, fluorescent lamps, light bulbs and small propane tanks will all be accepted for disposal.
Materials such as infectious waste, solvents, chemical laboratory waste and radioactive waste are not permitted.
