TAVARES – With the current construction of a roundabout at the intersection of Main Street and Sinclair Avenue causing detours in downtown Tavares, the Lake County Public Transportation Division has temporarily moved the locations of two bus stops for LakeXpress riders who travel on Route 1 near the Lake County Administration Building, located at 315 W. Main St. in Tavares.
Residents traveling eastbound toward Eustis, who usually wait at the bus shelter in front of the Lake County Administration Building, can now catch the bus at the intersection of Main Street and Joanna Avenue.
Westbound riders heading toward Leesburg, who normally board the bus at the intersection of Texas Avenue and Main Street, will now utilize a new stop location at the intersection of Alfred Street and Joanna Avenue.
In addition, passengers are still permitted to use flag stops along the routes, and the LakeXpress driver will allow them to board the bus in a safe location.
Construction on the roundabout is expected to last for 90 days, and County offices in the area will remain open. During the construction period, residents and visitors are urged to use extreme caution when in the vicinity of the construction work.
