Volunteers recognized for 16,000 total hours of service

RELEASE DATE: February 21, 2017

TAVARES – During an annual recognition ceremony today, the Lake County Board of County Commissioners honored 38 volunteers who served Lake County by contributing over 150 hours of time in 2016. The volunteers honored during the board meeting were part of a larger group of citizens who dedicated 16,000 total hours, or the equivalent of eight full-time employee positions.

“If we were paying minimum wage for these hours, the cost would be over $128,000 for the county,” said Lake County Human Resources Director Robert Anderson. “These contributions to our library system’s literacy program, parks and other departments significantly assisted the county in offering excellent customer service and programs to Lake County residents and businesses.”
