LEESBURG — Lake County's park rangers will lead a nature hike on Saturday, Sept. 20, from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. at PEAR Park, located at 5336 University Ave., Leesburg.
“This is on the date for the National Migratory Bird Count, so we’ll explore the park for migrating and resident birds and butterflies,” said Park Ranger Gallus Quigley.
During the hike, rangers will identify wildlife and plants and will explain what is being done at the park's two restoration areas for the Florida Scrub-Jay and Northern Bobwhite.
Volunteers of the PEAR Park Association are coordinating the restoration projects.
Participants are encouraged to wear appropriate clothing and footwear. Park rangers also recommend bringing binoculars, insect repellent and water.
