LEESBURG — The Lake County Parks & Trails Division is hosting a Basic Rock & Mineral Course on Saturday, Jan. 17, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at PEAR Park, located at 5336 University Ave., Leesburg.

The class will teach participants how to identify common rocks and minerals and how they are classified. The free course will be offered at the new PEAR Park Nature Center. The first portion of the course, from 9 to 11:30 a.m., will focus on minerals while the second half, from 12:30 to 3 p.m. will focus on rocks. Participants are encouraged to bring their own lunch.
