YALAHA — Lake County Government is participating with the Yalaha Community Club and Yalaha Country Bakery to host Yalaha Family Fun Day on Saturday, March 14, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the bakery, located at 8210 County Road 48.
The event will include a host of family-friendly activities, such as face painting, beanbag toss, hula-hoop contest and basketball shooting. At 12:30 p.m., there will be performances from the Melon Patch Theater in Leesburg and the Strummin Cats and Orfestra Players from the Astatula Elementary School of Arts. There will also be a potting and seed planting lessons for children at the Blue Bayou Farms Produce Market & Garden Center next to the bakery. The Lake County Department of Public Safety, Animal Services Division, will have dogs and cats available for adoption.
Several agencies will have important safety information available. The Sheriff’s Office Explorers will have fingerprinting kits available. Kids in Safety Seats will explain and conduct the correct installation of infant car seats. The Lake County Health Department will have an interactive display on proper hand-washing technique.
The Lake County Department of Environmental Utilities household hazardous waste mobile unit will be parked at the Lake County Fire Rescue station on County Road 48 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. The mobile unit collects household hazardous waste, such as paint, motor oil, gasoline, propane tanks, antifreeze, car batteries, household batteries (including rechargeable), lawn chemicals, pesticides, fluorescent light bulbs, aerosol cans and pool chemicals.
