UMATILLA — The Lake County Board of County Commissioners is inviting the community to a grand-opening celebration for North Lake Community Park, located at 40730 Roger Giles Road, Umatilla, on Saturday, May 23, at 10 a.m.
The park’s grand opening includes a 1.3-mile fun run/walk, which is one lap around the park’s perimeter trail. The celebration marks the completion of 75 acres of the 96-acre park. Some amenities of the recreational facility include the expansive playground, four picnic pavilions, two restroom facilities, two basketball courts, four sand volleyball courts, six tennis courts, two basketball courts, two soccer fields, three multi-use fields, two baseball fields, two softball fields, dog park and perimeter loop trail.
The park is the largest recreational complex for Lake County. Taking nearly a year and half to complete, the Parks & Trails Division was able to add more amenities to the park by completing various projects in-house, such as land clearing, landscaping and playground design.
There is no registration necessary for the 1.3-mile fun run/walk. For more information about the ceremony and run/walk, call the Lake County Parks & Trails Division at (352) 253-4950.
