The Lake County collection point at the Butler Street Boat Ramp on the St. Johns River was one of nine sites for the river cleanup event. More than 440 volunteers attended the annual St. Johns River Cleanup collecting 14 tons of trash.
“I would like to give a big thanks to Lake-Sumter EMS for standby medical assistance and the Lake County Solid Waste Division for trash removal assistance,” said Mike Bowers, Water Quality Services Director of the Lake County Department of Environmental Utilities.
