Could new bus route benefit downtown businesses?
LakeXpress, Lake County’s public transportation service, unveiled its newest route Tuesday in Mount Dora and while local residents are seeing the immediate benefit, businesses in the bustling downtown of Mount Dora are warming up to the potential the new bus line brings to the area.

Germany set to take the stage on July 3 for Lake County 4-H world cultural exploration
The free World Cultural Exploration hosted by the Lake County 4-H program continues with a presentation about Germany on Thursday, July 3, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Lake County Agricultural Center, located at 1951 Woodlea Road in Tavares.

The proposed uses for Lake County’s Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds for Oct. 1 2008, to Sept. 30, 2009, are available to view in an one-year action plan beginning Thursday, July 3.

The Lake County Amateur Radio Emergency Service (ARES) will be competing in the 2008 Field Day for 24 hours beginning at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 28, at Lake Idamere Park, located at 12335 County Road 448 in Tavares.
