The guide's layout is similar to a typical magazine as feature articles help give the reader an in-depth look at some of Lake County's popular getaway destinations. Another interesting feature in the guide is the itineraries, which suggest two-day excursions for visitors to explore the County's waterways, cultural attractions and golf courses. In addition to the feature articles and itineraries, the guide has a comprehensive listing of local museums, annual events, art centers, playhouses, boat cruises, parks, golf courses and general attractions.

All the elements needed for a breathtaking bicycling ride are evident in Lake County's paved trails, on-road biking lanes and offroad paths. Inviting weather year-round, serene rolling vistas, lush natural habitats and quaint small towns make Lake County a haven for all types of bicyclists from the leisure riders to the well-tuned sports competitors.
The one ingredient that makes Lake County stand out from other Florida locales is its hills. The adjoining 4-mile South Lake Trail and 5.5-mile Lake Minneola Scenic Trail boast the highest elevations of any rails-totrails project in the state. The two trails, which connect to the 22-mile West Orange Trail, offer cycling enthusiasts with an unprecedented amenity. Together, the trails feature a spectacular array of picturesque vistas from the area's rolling hills and tranquil lakes.

Bird watching is the fastest growing outdoor sport in the nation, and Lake County is happy to be a part of it. As the name of this County would indicate, it is a great place to view more than 200 different species of birds.
This bird-watching guide was developed, in cooperation with the Oklawaha Valley Audubon Society, to encourage local and visiting birders to explore Lake County's natural beauty. With 18 identified locations to go birding, including some hidden gems such as the Emeralda Marsh Conservation Area, Lake County is the right destination for advanced and beginning birders.

To obtain fresh products directly from the farm, the ten farmers’ markets in Lake County are super warehouses of good buys and great deals. In addition to selling fresh fruits, vegetables and herbs, local farmers’ markets offer a variety of other homemade goods including jams, salsas, infused oils and honey.
Other typical items found in Florida farmers’ markets are seafood and tropical plants. Farmers’ markets allow Lake County residents and visitors to have access to locally grown, farm fresh produce and homemade goods.
In addition, many of the local farmers’ markets are held in vibrant downtown districts that offer other shopping opportunities.

The Lake County Department of Public Resources,
Parks & Trails Division, manages more than three
dozen parks, preserves and boat ramps. The Division's
park rangers lead regularly scheduled nature hikes
and bird and butterfly surveys in a select few of
these parks in addition to properties owned by
the Lake County Water Authority and St. Johns
River Water Management District.
