Bill L. Veach joined the Lake County Board of County Commissioners as Deputy County Manager in April 2013. He reports directly to the County Manager and works closely with staff on the day-to-day operations of Lake County government.
Veach has more than 25 years of public-sector experience in state and local government. Prior to coming to Lake County, he served as a Division Director for Florida’s Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR).
He served as City Manager for the cities of Flagler Beach and Okeechobee, Florida. He also has worked as Executive Director for two environmental, nonprofit agencies and served as Adjunct Faculty at Barry University and Eastern Illinois University, where he taught classes on ethics in government and communication-related topics. He is credentialed by the International City/County Managers Association and has earned the Public Relations Society of America accreditation.
His educational background includes a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from Governors State University, a Master of Science in Health, Physical Education and Recreation from Eastern Illinois University, and a Bachelor of Science in Public Relations from Southern Illinois University.
Bill and his wife, Shawn, have two sons and two grandchildren.
